In April 2007, Rosewood Little Dix Bay appointed Mark Sterner as Resort Manager. In this position, Sterner oversees the day-to-day operations at the 500-acre property, including front office, reservations, concierge, spa/fitness and food and beverage.
Born in Germany, Sterner was destined for a career in hospitality from a young age. His father opened a series of hotel schools from Sri Lanka to Egypt to Gambia. As a result, Sterner spent much of his youth absorbing cultures around the world as well as languages including French, English, Arabic and Wolof, which is spoken in Gambia.
Upon graduation from his apprenticeship with the Queens Moat House in Hannover, Germany, Sterner worked at the 5-star Langham Hilton in London, making his way through the ranks to Banqueting Operations Manager. After a year in the Caribbean with the K Club in Barbuda, he joined the Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai, gaining experience at all of the property's restaurants before becoming Assistant Food & Beverage Manager. In 2001, Sterner went to Scotland and became Food & Beverage Operations Manager at the world-renowned Gleneagles Golf Resort in Perthshire. Four and a half-years later, he crossed the Atlantic and spent a year as Golf and Country Club Operations Manager at the AAA Five-Diamond Sandy Lane Resort on Barbados before joining Little Dix Bay.
Sterner currently resides on Virgin Gorda and enjoys scuba diving and fishing. When he is traveling off-island, he spends time on the ski slopes. |
